1. Ruth Wakefield invented it.

2. The recipe was created in the 1938.

3. Mrs. Wakefield owned the Tollhouse Inn in Whitman, MA, and cut up a semi-sweet candy bar and put it in her cookie dough.

4. It was created during the Great Depression and became an instant comfort food. Later, care packages of chocolate chip cookies were sent to soldiers who served during World War II. The soldiers encouraged their families to keep baking cookies and sending more!

Chocolate Chip Cookies might just be America's favorite homemade cookie!

Change in Dates!

In talking with some of the middle schoolers who have signed up or want to sign up for Chow Club, we are changing our dates to Thursdays to accommodate their schedules. Our first meeting is Thursday, October 7 and we will meet again on October 14. The cost is $5 for the two weeks, and once the club starts, it will be non-refundable. This money goes towards the cost of supplies. We will make some Halloween treats for this session. If interested, talk with Mrs. Stevens. If you are involved in sports, you can come later in the year to another session.
