November 1, 2021

The Day of the Dead is a day when the people of Mexico honor their ____. They set up an altar celebrating the life of their beloved relatives in the living room on a table, shelf, or mantle. Mexicans believe that the departed souls visit their homes so family members put the deceased person’s favorite foods, drinks, pictures, toys and favorite things on the altar. These items are called "ofrendas" in Spanish. The family also goes to the cemetery and brings flowers to decorate the gravestones. Music is a big part of this celebration.
